Our Story

The ACE Camera Club is a vibrant and inclusive photography community based in Albany, Western Australia.  We exist to support and inspire photographers of all ages, skill levels, and abilities, from complete beginners and digital enthusiasts to traditional film users, experimental artists, and videographers.  The club is a member of the West Australian Photographic Federation Inc.

Who We Are

Founded in 2014 with a passion for photography and community engagement, ACE is more than just a camera club; we are a creative hub where people connect through a shared love of visual storytelling.  Our members enjoy hands-on access to two fully equipped photographic studios, which include digital processing facilities and a traditional darkroom.   ACE remains committed to innovation and the adoption of new technologies while preserving the rich history and traditions of all forms of photography and the visual arts.

What We Do

ACE offers a wide range of activities that encourage learning, experimentation and community connection:

  • Workshops and training sessions to build practical photography and visual media skills.

  • Regular outings, projects and photo shoots that invite members to explore Albany and the surrounding region.

  • Community event coverage, including commemorative services, local shows and exhibitions.

  • Youth and disability-focused programs that nurture creativity and inclusion through structured photographic experiences.

Our Mission

Our mission is to encourage personal growth through the sharing of skills, knowledge and creative expression.  We champion innovation in both digital and traditional photographic practices and strive to make photography accessible to everyone, regardless of background, age or ability.

Community and Legacy

ACE is deeply rooted in the Great Southern region.  We actively participate in community projects, celebrations and exhibitions.  Through these collaborations, our members contribute meaningful visual stories that reflect the diversity and spirit of Albany and beyond.

Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or refining decades of experience, ACE Camera Club offers a supportive, creative and welcoming environment to grow your skills and share your vision.
